Brief Biography and Political Journey
Manoj Kumar Oraon, born and raised in the Alipurduar district, is a true grassroots leader with a deep-seated connection to the Kumargram region. Balancing his responsibilities as a dedicated Assistant Teacher and an elected representative, he has always stayed close to the everyday struggles of the people. His political journey started with the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), through which he first successfully won the Kumargram Assembly seat during a 2014 by-election, showcasing his immense local popularity.
Despite a temporary electoral setback in 2016, Manoj never stopped advocating for his community, actively participating in numerous social and political movements across the region. Recognizing the need for a stronger platform to deliver change, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2017. His relentless hard work paid off spectacularly when he was re-elected from Kumargram in 2021, and he further solidified his status as a beloved mass leader by winning the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections with a massive vote count of 143,044, defeating his nearest TMC rival by over 52,000 votes.
